The Mi’kmaq have never surrendered, ceded, or sold the Aboriginal Title to any of our lands. We have a Title claim to all lands in Nova Scotia. As keepers of the lands and resources, we expect that any potential impacts to Rights and Title shall be addressed. This is why the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw Chiefs saw the need for a consultation process to ensure that our Rights were protected and that Mi’kmaq concerns were formally addressed.
