The draft agenda for the 2019 Fisheries Conference was presented to the Assembly.
The work plan for KMKNO hosting community sessions on fisheries was presented and discussed by the Assembly.
An update was provided on the Feast at the St. Anne’s Mission as Salmon and Trout were provided by KMKNO.
Discussion was had on KMKNO funding and their fisheries proposal.
The call for nominees for the Wula Na Kinu Enrollment Committee was discussed. Recommendations on how to move forward were provided by the Assembly.
Discussion was had on the moose checkpoints in Wreck Cove and Hunter’s Mountain being set up by the Mi’kmaq and NS Department of Lands & Forestry. Communications has gone out on these checkpoints and the importance of sample collection. Volunteers are being sought to help run these checkpoint stations, on behalf of the Mi’kmaq.
Chief Andrea informed the Assembly of a letter that she would like to send to the Minister of Health on the Mi’kmaq Health Authority. The Assembly agreed with the letter being sent.
