The Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw Chiefs extends condolences to the Grand Council, the Mi’kmaw communities in Prince Edward Island, and the family of Keptin John Joe Sark.
“We were saddened to hear the news of the passing of Keptin Sark,” said Chief Sidney Peters, Co-Chair of the Assembly. “Keptin Sark was a kind and caring man who passionately represented the Mi’kmaq in everything he did.”
Keptin Sark was a long-standing member of the Mi’kmaq Grand Council and an important figure, not just for the Mi’kmaq of PEI, but for the whole Mi’kmaw Nation. Keptin Sark was known for his advocacy across Mi’kma’ki, but also as a UN Ambassador for the Mi’kmaq Grand Council.
“Keptin Sark was always a fighter and his commitment to bettering the lives of the Mi’kmaq was unwavering. We offer our deepest sympathy to Keptin Sark’s family and many friends on their loss,” said Chief Peters.
