The Assembly discussed branding and naming of the Mi’kmaq Forestry Initiative (MFI). The name put forward by the Forestry Advisory Committee is Mimaju’nsuti – “receiving sustenance from the forest.” The Assembly approved the name. KMK presented on the proposed Project Governance Agreement between KMK, UINR and CMM for the administration

Chief Annie Bernard-Daisley directed KMK to draft a letter from the Assembly to Chief Kyra Wilson, Long Plain First Nation to express support on the return of their missing women. The Assembly heard a presentation from representatives of the Everwind Fuels Project. Project partners will include Paqtnkek, Membertou and Potlotek.

The Assembly welcomed Chief Cory Julian to his first meeting with the Assembly of Nova Scotia Chiefs. Chief Sidney Peters spoke about the funding announcement recently made by the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre (MNFC). On October 27, it was announced that the MNFC would receive $28.8 million in federal investment
