The Maw-lukutijik Saqmaq is pleased to announce the appointment of Nathan Sack as Executive Director of Kwilmu’kw Maw‑klusuaqn (KMK).
Mr. Sack has more than twelve years of senior experience in Indigenous governance, financial stewardship, and nation‑building and now joins KMK following his tenure with the First Nations Financial Management Board. His career includes leading national governance initiatives, supporting First Nations in exiting federal default management, and strengthening financial and administrative systems across Mi’kma’ki and Canada.
A former Director of Operations for both Sipekne’katik and Kingsclear First Nations, Mr. Sack has demonstrated a consistent commitment to culturally grounded leadership, operational excellence, and advancing Mi’kmaw priorities. He currently serves on several governance bodies, including the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network Board of Directors and the RCMP “H” Division Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal Advisory Committee.
As Executive Director, Mr. Sack will lead KMK’s strategic direction, support the Maw-lukutijik Saqmaq in advancing Mi’kmaw Treaty Rights, and oversee the organization’s broad portfolio of governance, research, and intergovernmental initiatives.
We welcome Mr. Sack to this role and look forward to his leadership in strengthening Mi’kmaw governance. He will begin his role at KMK on March 9, 2026.
We also thank and acknowledge Janice Maloney, KC for her 20+ years in the role of Executive Director and welcome her into her new role as Senior Strategic Negotiator for KMK and the Made-In-Nova Scotia Process.
