In 2017, a community survey was conducted which determined the funds from the Mi’kmaw License Plate would be used for youth events and activities. The sale and renewal of Mi’kmaw license plates generate approximately $20,000 annually and these funds have been held in trust since the release of the plates.

The Assembly members went on a tour of sites around Debert with the Mi’kmawey Debert team at the Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq. Following the tour, a presentation was provided by the Mi’kmawey Debert team about their building plans and fundraising goals.   The Assembly received a presentation on Trenton Woodworks
