Discussion was had on an upcoming meeting booked with Premier McNeil and the issues that the Assembly wants brought forward during that meeting.

The Assembly discussed a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that has been developed with Nova Scotia Power Inc. The MOU outlines the process of how the 13 Mi’kmaw communities and Nova Scotia Power can work together. The Chiefs agreed to move forward with the MOU.
The Assembly reviewed a Terms of Reference drafted for a Finance Committee to oversee the finances of the various Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw corporate entities. They appointed four Chiefs to sit on this committee and directed Ulnooweg Development Group and KMKNO to operationalize the committee.
The Assembly discussed the Transitions Metals gold exploration project happening in Cape Breton and the lack of consultation that has happened with the Mi’kmaw of Nova Scotia on this project. The Assembly opposes the granting of any licenses for the Transition Metals project and directed KMKNO write a letter to the company.
The Assembly approved the adoption of the Kespukwitk Archaeological Protocols that were developed for use by all Mi’kmaw communities in Nova Scotia to support Mi’kmaq in the process of archaeological investigation and governance.
Discussion was had a on a property in Halifax that the Chiefs were looking at obtaining from Corrections Canada. The Assembly has offered the property to the Mi’kmaq Native Friendship Centre and was updated on their discussions with Canada on the property.
The Chiefs reviewed land parcels for potential acquisition to be set aside for future use by the Mi’kmaw of Nova Scotia through the Made-in-Nova Scotia Process. The Chiefs agreed to all six parcels of land recommended by KMKNO.
A painting of Sable Island by Mi’kmaw artist Alan Sylliboy was donated to the Assembly by ExxonMobil. The Assembly gifted the painting to Wagmatcook for their museum.
An update was provided on the planning of the North American Indigenous Games.
First Nation Infrastructure Institution provided an introduction and overview of their work.
The Province of Nova Scotia provided an update on the HST dispute they are having with Canada Revenue Agency.
